Brown Trout Fishing

Brown Trout Season 15th March to 30th September.

The Berwick & District Angling Association are primarily a Brown Trout Association and control most of the water from Chirnside down to the Tweed with a couple of exceptions.

Conservation is of the up most importance to the Association and as such we have a number of measures in force. Fishing on all beats is by fly only and no other form of fishing is allowed. Permission to fish is given subject to the rules of the Association, Beat Maps and the terms of the current Tweed Angling Code.

BDAA work with the Tweed Biologist to encourage and promote wild stocks of brown trout and actively participate and support the Tweed Trout and Grayling Imitative and strive to improve the breeding stock and nursery streams.

This means that we do not stock fish into the system.

More information on this initiative can be found on:

Salmon anglers have NO priority over trout anglers. It is a criminal offence to fish without written permission in the form of a permit and our watchers and Tweed Bailiffs check tickets on a daily basis.

The cost of Brown Trout permits are as follows and are current as of 2018 season.
